Required Reading/Viewing

Many (most?) elementary school teachers who teach history are not history majors. If you teach your students that escaped slaves navigated the Underground Railroad by using code hidden in quilts, then your required reading can be found here at Farm School. More on this topic at Chicken Spaghetti.

  1. Thanks very much for the mention and link, Mary Lee. Thinking about the death of Molly Ivins makes me even more convinced that whether we're teachers (at home or in the classroom) or concerned citizens (and voters), we need to know how to ask questions and not accept everything we read, even if it seems as if it should be accurate...
