I love that they are all dialogue and that the color-coded bubbles make it easy to figure out who's talking.Even in Australiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04477875616674358434noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20429083.post-50881539744288631502011-07-23T16:41:36.695-04:002011-07-23T16:41:36.695-04:00Elephant and Piggie have become the "new"...Elephant and Piggie have become the "new" Frog and Toad. My first graders love them and new releases are coveted - even after a read-aloud! It's a testament to the storytelling when "fluent" readers come back to borrow the latest addition to the series.mary b.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07180492661054947316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20429083.post-12099625423965014222011-07-23T14:36:53.158-04:002011-07-23T14:36:53.158-04:00Love Mo Willems! I did an author study of several of his books with my kindergarten students last year and found many students adding movement lines, emotion to their characters and subtle details just like Willems.Betsy Hubbardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10492340502962987362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20429083.post-91510400280894819792011-07-23T11:35:20.529-04:002011-07-23T11:35:20.529-04:00I love Elephant and Piggie too! Mo Willems is like Mem Fox in that the beauty of the book written becomes obvious as soon as you read it aloud to a group of children. My students have turned me into an Elephant & Piggie fan. You are right, we can learn a lot about life from these two characters.

CathyCathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08233792477358685156noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20429083.post-8255017492710666082011-07-23T07:56:49.476-04:002011-07-23T07:56:49.476-04:00When the Elephant and Piggie books first came out ...When the Elephant and Piggie books first came out I wasn't too impressed. But after reading them with kids just a few times I was hooked. We have a huge basket of Mo Willems' books in our classroom and I have to keep buying new ones because they are so loved.
