Poetry Friday: Winter Trees

WINTER TREES
by William Carlos Williams

All the complicated details
of the attiring and
the disattiring are completed!
A liquid moon
moves gently among
the long branches.
Thus having prepared their buds
against a sure winter
the wise trees
stand sleeping in the cold.

The round up this week is at Picture Book of the Day.

  1. I wish I knew how to leave a live link on a comment form!

On my book blog, I have a MOON THEME with five books and two poems for story time!

My favorite part of this post is the book "The Moon Shines Down" by Margaret Wise Brown. It's a “never-before published” book that was found buried in an old barn 56 years after Margaret Wise Brown's death! They just published it in 2008 and it is based on the rhyming story God Bless the Moon and God Bless Me! The little koala bear travels the world and it talks about each country…check it out! You will love it.

  2. Bookworm,
Mere moments after I posted that I would do the roundup, I learned that it would be at Picture Book of the Day. I will move your link and comment over there.

  3. I love this poem, Mary Lee. In fact, I posted it during a Poetry Friday last winter! It's gorgeous--and that "liquid moon" remains my favorite part. Thanks for the moment of reverie.
