Maceration of Money

MONEY
by Dana Gioia
Money, the long green,
cash, stash, rhino, jack
or just plain dough.
Chock it up, fork it over,
shell it out. Watch it
burn holes through pockets.
To be made of it! To have it
to burn!

I'm doing taxes today.
'Nuff said about today's choice of image and poem.

Ugh. Taxes. You have my sympathy.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read a lot of good money poems. I enjoyed this one a lot. Thanks!
I share your pain. But for the first time ever...I had them done before i left for my trip during spring break.
ReplyDeleteI did the federal and am impatiently waiting for the refund. The state and local...eh. Still procrastinating. There is no reward in doing them!! ;)
ReplyDeleteMary lee,
ReplyDeleteWe visited with our tax accountant Wednesday. At least we got better news than last year.
Great poem for the tax season!
Good one! And good luck with your taxes, too!
