PO-EMotion -- Interest

INTEREST

At the bank
it's what you get
without trying.
You just have to be there.
(monetarily)

At the (river)bank
it's what you get
without trying.
You just have to be there.
(open-mindedly)

  1. Love that picture and this community that encourages me to "be there." So many lovely moments and emotions captured in your poems this month.

  2. This would be fun to share in my academic language class when we talk about multiple meanings. Amazing how you could use the same words to describe both situations.

    "Interest"

    Squatting beside
    fat pink worms
    on the rain drenched sidewalk
    observing as they wriggle grass-ward
    so much interest

    standing on the sidelines
    heads bent over coach's clipboard
game plan x's and o's unfolding
    nodding intently
    so much interest

    watching high school girls
    disembark from the back
    of two -door sedans
    in short skirts
    so much interest

    researching the latest music
    a soon-to-be released video game
    new football gear
the price of an upcoming concert
    so much interest

    reading a required novel
    doing algebra homework
    conjugating Spanish verbs
preparing for latest round of standardized tests
    not so much interest

  3. I love the two examples of showing up and being there. Both pay off.

  7. I combined a few challenges and included a poem for the word interest at http://beyondliteracylink.blogspot.com/2015/04/listening-for-springs-symphony.html. Thank you for the word of the day, Mary Lee.
