Papa
That Jack.
He pestered me
like a horsefly
on a mule.
Just had to have my picture.
Stood me beside
the car, but made sure
the mistake he made after the dance
was hidden behind.
I was madder than a hornet that night.
Reckless, ungrateful son-of-a-gun.
But I can't help myself. He makes me smile.

Like a horsefly on a mule. What a great image for this father/son relationship. Love that it ends with that smile.
ReplyDelete"That Jack" indeed! Love how you captured Papa's voice so clearly in this one, Mary Lee!
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud when I got to "that mistake he made." Glad Papa can't help himself and smiles.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful! I think my brother could have been Jack!
ReplyDeleteThis really gave me a huge smile :)
ReplyDeleteCheers from Germany.
