So funny. I think our poems have a similar message today. I guess that is fitting since I made my first attempt at a golden shovel poem. I actually have a draft with about six of them. They're a bit tricky. I feel like word selection matters so much in this type of poem, and that is one area I need to continue to try to grow. (One of about a million...oh the journey.) I guess I just need to, as your poem reminds, be brave. I love your final lines with a reminder to do "what the world asks you to do."

ReplyDelete"...Not afraid of what the world asks you to do." Wow. That's... huge. I really love how aspirational these poems are; your kids will be able to tuck them away and stretch, the days they feel they cannot, to live up to what Ms. Hahn thought they could be. That's... teaching right there.
