The Empire State Building
A peach kabob1
A home for gods2
At the very tip
Kong loses his grip3
Fourth in height4
Icon of might5
Symmetrically planned
Art deco-ly grand6

2 In Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series, Mount Olympus is the Empire State Building.
3 King Kong tried to escape his captors by climbing the Empire State Building, but it didn't work out the way he planned.
4 In North America...for the time being.
5 The nickname of the state of New York is "The Empire State," a reference to its wealth and resources.
6 The Empire State Building's art deco style is typical of pre-WWII architecture in New York City.

And then I read an article about a Ford mustang being sawed apart and hauled up elevators for a fiftieth anniversary celebration. And it felt like there was a poem there somehow.
"Invitation"
You are cordially invited
to a
fiftieth
anniversary
celebration
Please come!
a shiny silver
mustang
convertible
will be
unceremoniously
sawed into three parts
then stuffed into elevators
and hauled
up 86 floors
to be reassembled
and admired
by the world.
