My mom's 80th birthday is coming up in June. I'm working on a playlist (soundtrack?) for her party and I'd love your suggestions.
So far I have, in no particular order:
Circle Game by Joni Mitchell
Bop Till You Drop by The Nylons
Wind Beneath My Wings by Bette Midler
Don't Worry, Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin
I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor
It's Your Song by Garth Brooks
Lean on Me by Al Jarreau
Sunshine on My Shoulders by John Denver
I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack
Forever Young by Rod Stewart
Through the Years by Kenny Rogers
Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
Ordinary Miracle by Sarah MacLachlan
Remember When by Alan Jackson
Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield
Only the Heart May Know by Dan Fogelberg
Tumbling Tumbleweed by The Sons of the Pioneers
and at least one by Glenn Miller, but I'm not sure what
Hmmm...I didn't realize I already had so many! Oh, well. Any other suggestions?

Mary Lee,
ReplyDeleteHave you considered including any tunes from the 1940s era like I'll Be Seeing You for a little nostalgia? My mother is in her eighties and that's the kind of music that brings back happy memories of younger days for her. Maybe a little "swing" music.
Benny Goodman: Sing, Sing, Sing
ReplyDeleteOnly Love: Wynonna
What about the classic Louis Armstong hit, WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your mom -- 80 wonderful years!
Some Enchanted Evening from South Pacific
ReplyDeleteUnforgettable by Nat King Cole
came to mind.
Great suggestions! Thanks! I'm off to iTunes to buy music for a change, instead of books!
