Poetry Friday -- Expectantly
EXPECTANTLY
Next to the lamp, an
Open book and a steaming cup of
Tea.
In the chair, she sits with
Closed eyes, listening
Expectantly.

How lovely to notice with closed eyes, open to ALL the possibilities for observation! Happy New Year, Mary Lee :-)
ReplyDeleteI'll think of you this afternoon when I sit down with a cup of tea and an open book! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year! Hurrah for noticing!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful poem and perfect OLW, Mary Lee! I am right there next to you in my own chair, with my own closed eyes and cup of steaming tea.
ReplyDeleteA delightful way to introduce your OLW! An open book, a up of tea, and time to listen - an inviting recipe!
ReplyDeleteYes, NOTICE. It all starts there.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I will go and write an acrostic for my One Word, which I somehow missed was supposed to be Little. Mine feels Big to me...
Love your word, Mary Lee, and the poem you've written for it. I'm closing my eyes right now and noticing the scene.
ReplyDeleteMary Lee, I would like to come sit in that chair. You sound so ready for the new year. Great OLW!
ReplyDeleteI want to climb right into your image & into your poem, "Expectantly."
ReplyDeleteA nourishing thought for 2015 - appreciations.
This word matches you. You are such a noticer. I look forward to reading the poems that grow from this word, friend. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWe should start a thing: writing a poem for your OLW. Love the image and the peacefulness of Notice.
ReplyDeleteI thought the word, at first, was expectantly, but it is almost the same, to notice & to 'expect' to do so. Lovely capture of this moment, Mary Lee. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful acrostic for your OLW "notice"! I will be checking back to see what you have noticed this year.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm... Notice. Perfect word and wonderful poem (& picture). Years ago a dear friend gave me some sticky notes with the quote, "All creativity begins with noticing." Love it, though I haven't been able to confirm its author.
ReplyDeleteHappy 2015!
Being expectant, and poised to notice - I feel you are ready for the new year with this OLW, mary Lee. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWonderful poem. I look forward to hearing about all the things you notice as the year progresses.
ReplyDeleteRobyn's quote says it all! Enjoy the year and keep your eyes open!
ReplyDeleteMary Lee,
ReplyDeleteYou always choose the best words. Your words somehow always bring peace to mind. I enjoyed your poem as well. Interesting, I pictured it to be about your mom. I'm not really sure why. I could just see her resting in a chair, knowing you were near, enjoying your company.

Oooooh, love your word, and this acrostic kicks of 2015 nicely. I raise my tea mug in a toast to you, Mary Lee!

ReplyDeleteAs you notice, you listen, and wait expectantly for the next cue, feeling, or wonder. How beautifully you displayed your OLW, Mary Lee.
ReplyDeleteDear MaryLee, It's a lovely site for the eyes to notice a welcoming scene, accompanying your poem, "Expectantly" & I notice how it's inviting me to follow the idea - eyes closed, listening.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly set the scene here, with a beautiful photo illustration. I love your "one little word" for the year. My daughter and I spent time coming up with her mantra for the year...I feel I need something between one word and a jingle. Today's goal is to fine-tune my yearly philosophy.
ReplyDeleteMary Lee, what a gorgeous poem. Everything is absolutely pitch-perfect, just right. From the tea to the photo to that gleaming lampshade. :) Happy New Year!
