Lizzy
Lizzy
When Lewis came home
from basic training
Jack suddenly remembered the chores
Pop has been nagging him to get done.
Everyone looks up to Lewis.
He's a natural-born
pilot if there ever was one.
Why does everyone's favorite
have to go off to some war?

That was quite a proud stance, enhanced by the photographer! Love your poems to accompany these treasures.
ReplyDeletePoor Lizzy.
ReplyDeleteOh, how frightening war is, especially when your favorite is being sent there (even if they do look like they just need a cape to be a superhero).
ReplyDeleteThese poems are giving us such a strong sense of character and the dynamics among them.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting the way your poems stand alone, yet much more of the story is gleaned by reading across poems. I'm already intrigued by the stories from these photos.

This shot goes beyond family photo into iconography--helped by your poem and Lizzy's voice, of course.
