22. Mt. Everest
AVALANCHE
Snow slide,
snow slip,
rapid flow
of snow
down a slope.
Neither rare,
nor random,
a natural hazard
of destructive
capability.
Coldly
impersonal,
unplanned
and
sudden.
Snow slide,
snow slip,
rapid flow
of snow
down a slope.

Great description of an avalanche!
ReplyDeleteLike the repetitive alliteration. Sounds slippery on my tongue.

ReplyDeleteEverest.
Threatening.
Twenty nine thousand feet.
Thin air.
Bitter cold.
Gale force winds.
Ice fields.
Avalanches.
Everest.
Beckoning.
Climb to touch the heavens.
Climb to prove you can.
Climb because I'm here.
The mountain speaks.
