There's Really No Other Option
There's Really No Other Option
It's a small boat.
You're alone in a storm.
The sea is rough.
A gust of wind takes your sail.
The boat spins and lurches.
It threatens to swamp.
You scream into the dark night.
The sky absorbs your anger, despair, frustration.
Then you pick up the oars,
and you row.

I love the title and the poem. Somehow, this seems so appropriate coming from you, Mary Lee. Even though we've only met briefly, I've read your words for a long time and I think of you as the Queen of No Nonsense.

Love that you're picking up your oars and rowing through the storm. Do you get poets.org poem of the day? Today's was Lucille Clifton's blessing the boat, which fits beautifully with your No Other Option.
ReplyDeleteYou do have a crew in that boat...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for this school year's finish...
I love this one too! Of course you pick up your oars!
