This Is Just To Say
This Is Just To Say
I am not reading
the books
that patiently wait
on my shelves
and which
I should probably
have read
by now
Forgive me
I will read again
someday
maybe today

Hehe--I'm the opposite. With my picture books from the library all read and ready to return (someday), I'm going through my stack of f&gs and picture books I picked up at readings and conferences and such that are waiting to be read and shared online.

ReplyDeleteI think you are not alone. Did you see this article? Someone, I can't remember who, posted it on Facebook this morning. https://www.vogue.com/article/why-cant-i-read-books-right-now?fbclid=IwAR1xv0novKLZSbWQalt5tK66oZ8k4bQOuds4Rtv1eB4tzZ1tICx0kLzAHuE
If you haven't read AMERICAN DIRT, that's a really powerful story and it kept me going for a couple of weeks.

I'm still reading, but rather lackadaisical about it, takes me much longer to finish. You've written the feeling well!
ReplyDeleteIsn't reading surprisingly difficult right now? Thanks for the reminder to try a "This Is Just to Say" poem this month.
