Poetry Friday -- Taxes

Maceration of Money
The George Eastman House Photography Collection, Flickr Commons

MONEY
by Dana Gioia

Money, the long green,
cash, stash, rhino, jack
or just plain dough.

Chock it up, fork it over,
shell it out. Watch it
burn holes through pockets.

To be made of it! To have it
to burn!

(the rest of the poem is here)

(the round up for this week is at Carol's Corner)

I'm doing taxes today.
'Nuff said about today's choice of image and poem.

Ugh. Taxes. You have my sympathy.

I haven't read a lot of good money poems. I enjoyed this one a lot. Thanks!

  2. I share your pain. But for the first time ever...I had them done before i left for my trip during spring break.

  3. I did the federal and am impatiently waiting for the refund. The state and local...eh. Still procrastinating. There is no reward in doing them!! ;)

  4. Mary lee,

We visited with our tax accountant Wednesday. At least we got better news than last year.

Great poem for the tax season!
