Setting Up My Desk Area

This is stop-action animation, NOT a video project. We shot about 100 still photos to make this movie!

A big thanks to A.J., my photographer for this project. (He's channeling Ray Harryhausen, whose stop-action animation for Jason and the Argonauts is "still the best.")

The next time I do a stop-action video, I will make sure we shoot at least twice as many photos. I can't wait to show this to my students and to give them a chance to try it, too -- it's quite fun!!

That looks like a lot of fun! I am anxious to pick up one of those Flip videos and start playing around myself.

  4. That is fabulous! How long did it take to get all those pictures?

What are you thinking about having your students do with this?

  7. Jenny, It took about 45 minutes to shoot about 100 photos. I had the idea planned out in my head, and my box full of doo-dads that live on the wall behind my desk ready to put up.

What will kids do with this? I think I'll leave that question up to them!! :-)

  10. That was so neat. It seemed like a video with special effects. What a fun project.

  11. This is really fun to watch. I kept wondering how are those things getting up on the board with no one there. It was teacher magic.

  12. Love it! I also love to see someone who has as many pen cups as I do. Mine all have a different purpose, which I am sure only I can understand ;)

  15. This is great! My son Joey has about 100 photos that he took of a lego adventure that he wanted to make into a stop-action animation. I didn't even know what to call it until your post. Did you just plop them into imovie or is there a specific stop action format in imovie?
